But, it’s also supposed to be pretty gorgeous out, so I’m hoping to put some time into some outdoor projects, like work on my Little Free Library! I have some wood that I’ve gathered through my local Buy Nothing group, and a friend is going to come over to help me figure out the construction. I have a goal to finish it this weekend… though after we finish putting all the pieces together I’m still going to have to paint and waterproof it so it may end up taking a bit longer. But if I don’t get it done this weekend I have to wait at least three more weeks before I have another free weekend.

This is the base for my Little Free Library – I found it at the Habitat ReStore at a very good price! I’m super excited about it!

Time has really just been rushing by! I can’t believe we’re almost into May… I feel like we just stumbled into April and now it’s almost gone. Last weekend was a nice visit with my dad and step-mom, and some time with my sister, brother-in-law, and nieces. One of them is turning 2 in June, the other is under a month old! I honestly hadn’t expected to see them all, because I know that they were trying to focus mostly on immediate-family time in these first weeks, but it was super fun to get to!!

The month-old is still very much is the “sleep, eat, poop, repeat” stage of life, so I just held her some so that my sister could enjoy eating a meal using both hands, and drinking coffee while it was still hot. The almost-two-year-old is just growing by leaps and bounds. Last time I saw them was probably back in September, she was wobbling around and had some basic words, but was mostly just babbling. Now she’s forming more words, runs everywhere, and I was working on helping her learn how to climb on the play equipment ladder (it’ll be a while before she can do it on her own, of course, but she was getting the idea of holding onto one rung while lifting up her foot for the other).

This week I checked out some books for the non-fiction writing project I’m working on. Really, I should call it “projects” at this point, because one idea of course leads to another, and another, and another. My goal for the coming month is to actually start WRITING some things — and the place I may end up doing some of the early writing is here on this blog. I figure it’s as good a place as any!

What are you up to these days?

  1. The free library project sounds like a lot of fun to get organized. Hope it goes well for you! I am involved in finishing up my poem-a-day efforts for NaPoWriMo 2019 and organizing my most recent “to be read” list.

    1. In the front yard! I live at the end of a cul-de-sac, and there is a good mix of ages (from kiddo’s to elders) in my neighborhood. I had a little plastic seat with storage space under it for a while, and it got some okay traffic, so I’m hopeful that this will get even more.

  2. Hi Alli,
It’s great to catch up again. I’ve been so busy writing and deep into my research, that I’ve been losing track of the days of the week, especially with the kids on school holidays. So, I managed to make it today and school goes back tomorrow. I need to be back in the land of the living and organized tomorrow. No more drifting in between the rows of text.
Your library sounds like a great idea and it’s coming along well. I’m dropping some books off to a friend today. She home schools and appreciates our kids books. Some of them have never been read.
Anyway, I’m off to make pancakes for lunch.
    Best wishes,
    Rowena
