Hello friends! How are you all doing? The weeks are pretty blurry to me at this point, my weekends don’t look terribly different from my weekdays so I am having some trouble wrapping my head around what day of the week it actually is.

This was my sixth week of self-isolation. Things are mostly fine, my energy is shot, and I’ve had a bit of a pain flare-up (I have a phone appointment with my rheumatologist on Friday to see what we might be able to do to help that). But I’m still getting something done most days so I consider it a win. Little accomplishments as I settle into this new normal.

This weekend is Dewey’s 24-hour Readathon, and I was originally looking forward to devoting the entire day to reading. But I now have some errands that I need to run and some classwork that needs to be done so reading will be interrupted by those but I hope to spend a lot of the time curled up in bed with my nose in a book.

How are you all doing?

  1. We are in our 5th week of #shelteringinplace – luckily, we can get food delivered to us, and aren’t too close to others…but for many, those luxuries are not possible and I am sorry that they are having a difficult time…trying to stay positive for everyone and doing all we can to help!

  2. I have also had a pain flare-up, likely due to stress and fear. The news stirs my fear, going to the grocery store in a mask is weird, but I do it. I feel like I have severe OCD, anxiety, paranoia, and agorophobia. Well, 80% of the world also does right now. I do have arthritis, but there may also be something else. I did so well after physical therapy at the start of this year, but the pian is back, and I went gung-ho two weeks ago trying a new exercise with light weights. Turns out I should not ever lift anything above shoulder level. 😦 No one told me that; I had to learn the hard way. Do you have RA? I tested negative. I am currently reading something by Sarno about the Mind-Body Connection. Interesting stuff, about how emotions or past trauma can cause or prolong chronic pain. I hope you get relief. I am going back to the chiropractor as I do not want surgery, ever. We’ll see. Take care!

  3. Hi Alli, It’s good to know you’re good, well at least mostly. I was sorry to hear that, with everything else you’re trying to do that you have to fuss with RA also. I have both friends and relatives fighting the same battle so I know it’s a slog of a fight – at least for them.
I hope your physician has some good ammo for your consideration and that it proves to work.
    All the best my friend.

  4. Hi Ali,
Sorry to hear about your battles with RA and hope you get some answers and some pain relief. It’s really, really late here so I’ll keep it brief.
    Best wishes,
    Rowena
