Hi everyone! Sorry I’m running late again – I am starting to lose track of what day is what. Time is moving very strangely these days – each day seems very long, yet so much is happening in each of them. News changing from moment to moment, trying to stay safe and healthy, get things done, and maintain connections.

I plan to be doing a lot more writing later, I’ve had a lot running through my head, and I have every intention of keeping a record of this time. But, first, I need to catch up on some work, get focused on catching up on my homework, and put my room in order (seriously, it’s a mess!)

I do want to mention how I’ve seen some wonderful examples of community support. This is a hard time, businesses (small, and not so small) are having to make hard choices, and while there are still plenty of people making poor decisions and ignoring what seems like LOGIC to me, there are also so many that are doing their part. Staying home, but offering help, support, and community through online venues. Reaching out to help those who are more vulnerable by offering to go to the store with them and then dropping those goods off at their door. Just a beautiful web of connection and assistance.

What are you up to at this point? What has struck you about the past week?

  1. I am seeing so many positive signs of friends and neighbors coming together – NOT physically – but in a common cause of support – we are buying from small businesses to help them stay afloat, and we are follow the guidelines in place so that the experts can get a handle not he spread of this virus and get on a path back to the “new normal”…stay safe everyone and wash wash wash your hands with soap!

  2. Things are mellow here, staying home mostly other than a garbage run today to the dump, which was closed for a while and now only takes household garbage, and isn’t charging for it. It was good to get rid of the trash. We also picked up some wood pellets for the wood stove, which lowes considers ‘seasonal’ and does not carry now, but which the rest of us consider ‘our heating fuel for the house all the whole year’, so fortunately we got some elsewhere. I continue not to write my book, other than bits and bobs sometimes. Health is not excellent, so that is excuse number 465768709683 for me today about the book. I hope all stay well.

  3. There sure is a lot to think about, to help others without risking anyones health, support small businesses and think globally. I have to admit that things aren’t completely black and White. Thank you for the coffe, I do think it’s important to have some kind of social Exchange, so this Coffee share is perfect ☺️

    1. It was kind of nice to know that I already had a digital-based community here – something that continues on as normal. It’s a little hint of normalcy that I welcome!

  4. Thank you for sharing coffee and am so thankful for you and all who share and how we can stay connected. I’ve been wanting to cook more and am excited about some of my menu choices, but definitely didn’t want to cook more because of these crazy days. I guess that’s what’s called a silver lining! AND yes, hearing some really GREAT stories of people helping others in need. We will survive this, just need to stay strong! ❤️🥰

  5. So happy that you have made an appearance! I began to worry if you had fallen ill. When the schedule is lost, it so easy to lose track of where and when one is. Glad you’re in touch!

My husband’s favorite diner, where he used to, until now, drop in for coffee at least once a day, has cut back to shorter hours and offers only pick-up/delivery meals. We ordered dinner from there for both of us, tonight. Lovely break for me, and he gets to make contact with the staff he’s used to visiting with every day.

Spent today going through a backlog of links that I hadn’t taken time for until now. Beautiful things! Having so much fun, in spite of still feeling quite up to par. Posting some of them on FB.

  6. My town, and many around us, are participating in a city-wide scavenger hunt, where you hang things in your windows according to a particular theme. The neighborhood kiddos, walk around or drive with their folks to see/take pics. It’s been fun! Thanks for the coffee and stay healthy!

  7. Things are calm here. Public schools, libraries, community centres, and many businesses have been closed since March 13 and many people work from home so the city centre is quieter than normal. Thank you, Alli, for your coffee share and link-up. Stay safe and be well.
