It’s starting to cool off, finally! This week has been a real scorcher, hitting the high 90’s (Fahrenheit) on Tuesday and Wednesday. That is NOT NORMAL for our area. At all. Though I suppose I, like all of us, have to just come to terms with the “new normal” (while, of course, trying to help do what I can). It can be really overwhelming, though, to think about the mess our environment is in, while also dealing with the disaster of politics, and trying to be productive – rather than just pissed off – about the increasing sense of entitlement and hatred that I’ve been seeing around me.

Ahem. Anyhow. Coffee.

This weekend I’m going to be resting some, reading some, and probably doing a bit of cleaning. The exterminators came and seem to have done a good start with the spraying, the ants have definitely been dwindling (and those who are appearing are dying). They’ll come back again in the start of July, and then it’ll just be exterior spraying every three months –I think it’s going to be worth it! And I’m pleased that what they use is a plant-based thing, which doesn’t hurt the plants we have in the area, or the other critters (I mean, the dog wasn’t supposed to lick it up while it was drying, but we didn’t have to vacate the house or anything).

For my reading this weekend I’m hoping to get through some of the library books I checked out a while ago – make some notes and figure out which ones I might be able to put to use, and which ones can just be returned. I’m also going to start WRITING some on this project, and my plan is to put some of that writing up here on the blog — so hopefully you’ll all see some of those posts in the next few weeks.

I’ve been listening to a lot of books lately – it’s easier for me during my commutes to listen to an audio-book than it is to read an actual book (for many reasons). Someone, at some point, recommended My Grandmother Asked Me To Tell You She’s Sorry, and I am LOVING it. It’s one of those books that I’m enjoying so much I will probably end up acquiring a hard-copy at some point in the not-to-distant future because I want to re-read, and quote, and make notes in it. I’m hoping that I can do some more listening while I work on a few non-reading/non-writing projects that I want to make progress on this weekend.

I have weaving and crochet projects to finish, and new ones that need to get started. Not to mention a small box of papers that have accumulated that need to be sorted through, a pile of laundry to deal with, meals to prep for next week, and I really want to get some work done on the little patch of land that I’m claiming as my own outside my bedroom window (where the starts of the Catio live). We’ll see how much actually is able to be completed this weekend… as usual I have far more things on my to-do-list than I have time or energy for.

What are you up to this weekend? How has your week been?

  1. My favorite posts of the week! I have a stack of library books next to my bed and I have been reading very little…writing a lot though.

The weather has been wonky here…hot one day and then cold and rainy the next.

I will link up when I post on Sunday!

    1. Such ridiculous weather…
Glad you’ve been writing a lot at least, I NEED to get a move on that myself. Signed up for Camp NaNo next month in the hopes of getting this writing started up again though.

  2. You’ve got a lot to do, how do we get so busy? I am visiting family this weekend and am with my only granddaughter. She melts my heart and my son and his family are just amazing people to be with. I’m thankful for this time with them. I’m hoping you get most done and I’m hoping to share coffee too, will see but enjoyed having coffee with you!! 😀 – Diana

  3. Such a busy schedule! My wife and I just attended a music festival in Nap Valley and saw a great, all female pop/garage rock band called The Regrettes…who were chosen by Lin-Manuel Miranda to take part in his “Hamildops” series of “Hamilton” covers!

  4. It sounds like you have a pretty awesome weekend ahead of you. I love having little project around the house that needs to be taken cared of. I’m doing some laundry today, some reading, some blogging, and getting an oil change for my car. maybe a swim in the pool later today. We have three digit temperatures..
