Coffee on the go this weekend! I’ve got some running about to do!

Last weekend I got some sleep, but I also managed to finally get a Catio assembled for the Midnight Monster. It isn’t as grand as my ultimate plan, but that is going to be something to accomplish in stages. This one was given to me by a friend of my moms, all I had to do was assemble it. So far Monster has been hesitant about it, he’s ventured out onto the top perch, and once made it to the floor (though I think he fell that time, since he wasn’t quite sure how to get back up from that). But eventually I’m sure he’ll enjoy the entire thing. And maybe I’ll even manage to extend it a little bit before summer is up. I would LOVE to give him more space to run.

Picture of a window, a black cat sits on a blue cat bed that is located on a wooden perch just outside the window, contained within a screened in cage.
From his perch, he can see… the fence… and a few birds that choose to wander about. Landscaping in the area will happen soon, I hope! The plan is for some bird-friendly trees. I know that we have a few around the yard who already enjoy taunting the Monster, so I hope to encourage that behavior – entertainment for them and for him!

The reason I am having to have coffee on the go this morning is that I am continuing my trend of busy weekends. This weekend it’s a trip up to the Seattle area for my twin brother’s wedding. It’ll be fun to see the Seattle-area contingent of my family, and Mom and I (who are driving up together) are taking an extra day to explore Leavenworth for a night. Neither of us have ever been, so it will be nice to explore the area and just have a bit of time to relax.

The other thing I’m kind of hoping to do this weekend… a little more reading and work on that long-mentioned project. I have thought about it, I’ve done some research, but it is (long-past) time for me to actually start in on some of it. I always find it a bit of a challenge when I have to set deadlines for myself, when there is no end-goal expectation. There is no teacher or boss or client expecting me to have a finished product by a certain time — it’s far easier to be lax when I’m the only one holding the expectation of myself. But I want to change that, because I would really like to start getting this writing together. I have ideas, but it is time for those ideas to start taking some form!

I also am hoping (through the coming week) to finally finish up the weaving project that’s been sitting on my loom for a while now. It got sidelined a bit due to all the other stuff going on in life, but I want to finish it — because I have IDEAS and plans for some other projects! I also need to get myself to finish up a number of the crochet projects I have laying around… I still owe friends a wedding present from last summer.

So many projects, so little time….

What are you up to this weekend?

  1. It’s Napa Valley’s annual wine auction – a great charity event that raises money for families who need medical attention – so it’s wine wine wine!

  2. Thank you so much for hosting Weekend Coffee share! I love to share and will do later today. I love your catio, it will be well used I’m sure! And have fun on your weekend trip, I’ll be traveling in a couple of weekends to see my granddaughter. And I’m working on crochet projects too, crochet zoo animals for a friend. I have other projects in the works, always busy so much to do, so little time! Lol 😀 -Diana

  3. Love the Catio! My Darby would go crazy. I will have to see about one for her. Enjoy the wedding and your mini vacation. Seattle looks like a great place to visit.

  4. Hi Ali,
Hope the wedding went well and you had a fun time catching up with your family.
After seeing Midnight Monster’s catio, my dogs have asked for a dogio. Does such a thing exist I wonder… They’re often complaining about discrimination and can’t understand why there’s a Cats the musical and not one for dogs.
I’ve had a quiet couple of days here and the weather today has turned very blah…wet, cold, windy. WE Australians live in Winter denial until it bites us well and truly like today.
Hope you have a great week!
    Best wishes,
    Rowena
