#WeekendCoffeeShare: Boxing in the Monster

Weekend Coffee Share is a time for us to take a break out of our lives and enjoy some time catching up with friends (old and new)!

Grab a cup of coffee and share with us! What’s been going on in your life? What are your weekend plans? Is there a topic you’ve just been ruminating on that you want to talk about?

All are welcome! Just add your link to the Linky-List, and be sure to visit others and join in their conversations! The link will be open from Friday January 25th at 7am (Pacific Time) until Monday January 28th at 7am (Pacific Time) to give us a good range of “weekend”!

If you are unable to post your site into the link-up for any reason feel free to drop it into the comments and I will do my best to add you to the linkup!

Sorry about missing you all last weekend… Wednesday of last week I started to have a dry scratchy throat, and Thursday, Friday, and Saturday all ended up being completely devoted to sleeping. With the briefest of breaks on Saturday to wrangle Midnight Monster into his crate for his annual checkup. He’s doing well, though I have to figure out a way to get him to run around even more, and I emerged with a minimum of injuries. He DESPISES being put into any sort of box (in a very non-cat-like manner he refuses to even sit in completely empty, open-topped, cardboard boxes), so we have to plan and prep for the trauma of getting him into a crate for his vet visits. Once he’s there he’s the sweetest loaf of a cat, just sits there being his handsome self (something he rarely does at home, though, to be fair, I also didn’t try to attack his belly like I do when we’re at home). When they take him out of the room for his blood-work and shots he always comes back all cuddled up to the tech.

Sunday I was actually able to keep my eyes open for most of the day, spent some time in the morning visiting with my besty, got some groceries, and did my weekly game session that night (online).

The week has been interesting, because I’m definitely still recovering from this ick. So I had moments of feeling a lot better, but moments of feeling pretty worn down. A mini roller coaster of health, and I was just hanging on for the ride. I’m hoping that I will be able to get a little bit of rest in this weekend, but there are a handful of things I’ve got going so I’ll be working around those.

The biggest one is that Friday Night my high school is opening up for alumni to come wander around and visit. They’re going to be tearing down the building and building a new one in its place. The new school will be spectacular, and really this is a long-overdue move, but the building that is there now holds a special place for many of us alumni. I graduated from there in 1999, during a time of transition for the school. My senior year was marred by the beginning stretches of growing pains, but I still love the school that had been, and admire all I see from the school that is there now. It was a small arts school, and some of the friends I made there remain among my closest. It will be fun to see people again, to wander those halls and get some pictures of the mark that was left by my generation of students.

What do you have planned for the weekend?

The Monster-Loaf.
By the time we got home he forgave me, thankfully.
