#WeekendCoffeeShare: Next Week -#BoutOfBooks!

wordswag_15073188796611453091488.pngWeekend Coffee Share is a time for us to take a break out of our lives and enjoy some time catching up with friends (old and new)!
Grab a cup of coffee and share with us! What’s been going on in your life? What are your weekend plans? Is there a topic you’ve just been ruminating on that you want to talk about?
All are welcome! Just add your link to the Linky-List, and be sure to visit others and join in their conversations! The link will be open from May 11th at 7am (Pacific Time) until Monday May 14th at 7pm (Pacific Time) to give us a good range of “weekend”!

If we were having coffee I’d ask for us to make it an afternoon thing. Because this was my first full week back to work, and I am pretty darn exhausted. Things went pretty well, it’s just been a long week. Because I’m still very much recovering from the surgeries, I haven’t really planned a whole lot for the weekend – purposely giving myself time to rest.

Work itself has been great this week (really, it’s the commute that’s doing me in!), I feel so fortunate to have the coworkers I do — they did an awesome job covering my duties while I was out DOUBLE the amount of time originally anticipated. Now that I’m back they’re continuing to be stellar, helping pick up some of the duties that involve being on my feet more.

(They also welcomed me back with some fun signs)

This coming week is the next Bout of Books, which I’m planning to participate in. I’m hoping I’ll have enough energy to give a little extra focus to reading during the week. My To-Be-Read list is, as always, ridiculously long. I think I’m going to try to knock some of the younger-reader books from the list this week.

I’ve also realized I’m a fair amount behind in writing about what I have read – so I’m going to start looking at getting that organized a bit more. Lots of writing, lots of reading — but I’m being sure to allow myself the leeway to NOT do any of it if my energy doesn’t allow. If my energy all is being drained just getting through the work day I need to listen and not push myself any more than that.

What are you up to this week?

Let me give you a little more information about the Bout of Books — join us!! I’ll be sharing my experienced on Twitter (@nerissarain) and Instagram (@eclecticali)

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly Rubidoux Apple. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 14th and runs through Sunday, May 20th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 22 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team

  1. Glad to hear you are back in the saddle with work and giving yourself achievable goals. You are quite ambitious to tackle the Bout of Books and write and get back to work. Have a relaxing weekend.

    1. I figure that I still have a bunch of books out from the library – so Bout of Books will help me to make the decision to read during my commute rather than zone out at my phone 🙂 The writing hasn’t happened this weekend, so I’m going to try to get myself to do some during my lunch breaks. Slowly moving towards normalcy as much as I can with the boot on!

  3. Oh, I’m so glad your first week back went so well! Thou “Bout of Books” thing sounds really interesting! I wish I had known about it earlier I would have joined but I am so far behind in writing there just isn’t time, but you have reminded me that I have dedicated absolutely no time for reading lately, and I need to do better. Good luck next week and thank you for the coffee!

    1. The nice thing about Bout of Books is that it happens a few times during the year – so you can look at when the future ones are scheduled and participate in one that works! 🙂 Be sure to dedicate some time to reading… I need to dedicate more to writing because that has been seriously lagging (I keep procrastinating on Chapter 4 edits….I’m running out of excuses)

  4. Hi Alli. Newbie, Gary Wilson here.

I’m a newish blogger, more of a story teller & collector than blogger, lover of both books and writing, and all around friendly old wise guy. The coffee share group looks just like the group of similar and diverse folks I’ve been hoping to find. Last week, I studied what I could find of previous posts and rules of the road and submitted my first piece to the coffee share (https://garyawilsonstories.wordpress.com/over-coffee/) and was warmly received by several regulars.

This morning, I realized that I had not directly reached out to our hostess to introduce myself, but with almost 5000 followers (wow – BTW!) I’ll be short because clearly you don’t have any free time between writing (yes!), reading (YES!), exercising some kind of frequent flier options from your local surgeon (good grief!) and then in your copious spare time, managing your busy blog. Allie – you make me look and feel lazy…

With this note, I hope to properly introduce myself, take very little of your limited time, thank you for hosting, offer you a 10 minute read as a sample of what my current writing project is all about, and ask one question.

My stories are all 10 minute (or less) reads, rowdy, funny and autobiographical accounts of my childhood and growing up in northern California. Here is my flagship story for your entertainment (it will almost certainly help you sit still a bit longer, but I hope you will be laughing. https://garyawilsonstories.wordpress.com/the-inner-tube-adventure/

My question is, I don’t know how we get the new coffee share link each week. Is there a distribution or membership list that I’ve not found? Perhaps, you want us to just follow your blog and it shows up there. I hope I did not accidentally miss a step where I should have asked your permission… Apologies if I did – gulp!

So thanks for hosting this group for us. I wish you quick and full recovery from this series of surgeries and further hope you don’t need more.

    Warmest regards.

    1. Welcome Gary!
At this point the new link for the Coffee Share shows up at 7am (PT) on Friday through my blog. I’ve just been hosting it for a few months, and haven’t put together a distribution list or newsletter or anything (though that would be a thought! It’ll be a while before I can wrap my head around looking into a regular mailing – but I’ll definitely give some thought to gathering regular participants emails so I can send out the linky-list link to you all.) I’m still in “sleep and try to pretend to do something else” most of the weekend so have been slacking on visiting other people’s blogs – but will definitely check out your page 🙂
