If We Were Having Coffee – March 13, 2016

If we were having coffee I’d apologize for canceling the last few weeks.  Things have been busy, but I’ve also been finding myself needing to just sleep and rest a bunch when I’ve been home.

I’d tell you a little bit about what I’ve been up to.  Two weeks ago I was in a blur of some medication I was taking that really made my brain foggy.  Despite that I was pretty busy still, meeting up with friends for breakfast and then going to a Jamberry consultant gathering which was pretty cool.

Last weekend was particularly packed, but a lot of fun!  I took the train up to the Seattle area for a talk my Mom was doing.  I got a lot of writing and relaxing done on the train and have decided I definitely need to make train-trips a more regular part of my life – I got more writing done on that three hour trip than I had managed in the two prior months! Plus SO MANY awesome views.

I ended up with about 40 minutes free time near the King Street Station before the bus I was going to catch out to meet my sister (who lives up that way).  I decided to wander around a bit, initially with the plans to simply get some coffee (figured that would be easy enough).  Right across from the coffee shop I ended up going to was a museum, and it was free, so I couldn’t resist stopping in for a bit.

I definitely will go back at some point, it was pretty cool and I want to spend more time actual exploring the museum.  But I wanted to also check out something I’d seen on one of the maps near the train station, so I just did a quick visit and headed to Waterfall Park, which was also very pretty.  It had started to rain at that point, but part of the park was under-cover so I was able to sit for a bit and enjoy the park while I finished my coffee.

It was pretty cool to sit by a waterfall in the middle of the city, I really liked the park.

The rest of the weekend was filled with family.  We went to Mom’s talk, and I got some time hanging out with my sister – something that hasn’t gotten to happen very much in the past few weeks. The next day us “kids’ went out to breakfast, then met up with Mom to go to a Pinball Museum. After that some of us went to a restaurant that had a bunch of board games to play with, we got to sit and enjoy food while playing some new games.

This weekend I had a more “laid-back” weekend, yesterday I went to see the Broadway Touring Cast production of The Wizard of Oz with a friend – followed by a bit of a pig-out on some fried food.

This coming week is Final’s Week, which is a pretty busy time at work for me.  I’m hoping that everything goes smoothly, but am trying to spend the rest of the day today getting ready – making sure I have lunches and breakfast’s prepared for the week, getting my space in order, taking care of some of the obligations and work that I need to have done before the week starts.

But it’s been nice getting the chance to sit and have coffee with you again.  I’m going to really try to stay on top of things going forward so that I don’t miss out on the weekend coffee shares – it’s been strange to not be participating the past few weeks!

How have you been?  What’s been going on with you lately?

Today’s post is a part of the Weekend Coffee Share, graciously hosted by Part Time Monster every weekend. A time for us to come together, share a cup of coffee (or our beverage of choice) to share some of what is going on in our lives.  It’s a lovely check-in!

  1. You got a lot out of that trip last weekend! I have been to Seattle a lot but because of family, I don’t usually get to go any place. I was glad to have gone to the glass museum at the Seattle Center a couple of times ago. And last time I just went exploring different shopping areas. When I am there this weekend, I hope to go back to Recreate Seattle to see what treasures I might find!
