If We Were Having Coffee: Writing and Social Times!

If we were having coffee today I’d hope that we could enjoy it outside, but somewhere in the shade.

It’s been an up and down week… one of those weeks where I can’t quite believe it’s just been one week.  I took Monday off from work because of an early-morning doctors appointment.  Which meant I got the rare opportunity to do a bunch of writing during the day (it was highly productive!) and got together with TWO different friends.  Lunch with one, and then milkshakes with another (and her girls!  Including one of my absolute favorite six-year-olds!)

Monday was a beautiful day to enjoy a milkshake and some outside time!

It was a beautiful wonderful day.  The rest of the week was kind of unremarkable, at least, compared to Thursday.  Thursday was lovely until lunch-break.  Lunch was delightful, I got a lot of writing done.  But I got back from lunch just after the alarm in the building finished going off… the rest of the day was spent dealing with the fall-out of the evacuation and some other issues that arose towards the end of the day.  Then the commute….  Between traffic being backed up because of a presidential visit and police activity that stopped the trains from traveling from downtown to westside my normally 1 to 1.5 hour commute ended up last 2 hours and 45 minutes.  UGH.

Friday was somewhat better… it was beautiful outside, and I enjoyed a lunch-break of good writing and then drinks and dessert out with a friend later in the evening.

This weekend is going to see more writing (and more great weather!)  It’s nice to be getting so much writing done (and also getting so much social time). May the coming week bring more productivity!

Enjoying the sun and a coffee from my favorite cart for lunch on Friday.

I’m looking forward to some  projects that are coming up, collaborations and behind the scenes plotting is happening!  It’s going to be a great summer in the blogosphere, and outside it as well 🙂

Today’s post is a part of the Weekend Coffee Share, graciously hosted by Part Time Monster every weekend! A time for us to come together, share a cup of coffee (or our beverage of choice) to share some of what is going on in our lives.  It’s a lovely check-in time.

        1. Funny how these things come and go. It does seem like everyone had a trying week. And then just recently it seemed like everyone I know offline had a week of odd dreams…

                1. I’ve had a lot involving babies, but I know where that came from. Also one entire romance with Stephen Amell (except he was a guitarist and he had wings.) And one really creepy one entirely unlike my usual dreams, and it turned out to be creepily similar to one a coworker had a few weeks ago…

  1. Love the shot of the clock tower! I hate those days when my commute gets doubled or worse! Thankfully, it doesn’t happen very often, but it is dreadful when it does. Seems it will usually happen when I don’t have a drink with me in the car or am low on smokes or don’t have anything quick to cook for supper.

    1. Thank you! I saw the colors and HAD to take a picture. Not having anything to drink really made the commute worse — I’d raced to a connecting bus and was seriously out of breath with a dry and scratchy throat when I got to the stop… but, of course, the bus didn’t come for over half an hour because everything was backed up. I had time to go get a drink from one of the many coffee shops around, but was afraid that as soon as I left the stop the bus would come. It was frustrating!! Luckily, I did have my lunch (that I hadn’t eaten) with me, so I ate my lunch-dinner at the bus stop.

  2. Sorry I’m late for coffee *wobbles atop ball.* Your week sounds like quite an adventure, but I’m thrilled you got some writing in. I too hope your productivity continues into next week. Here’s hoping we’ll both become adept at the balancing act! At least you took time out for fun with friends, which is always important. It was great to catch up 🙂
