If We Were Having Coffee (5)

Have I mentioned how much I enjoy this feature?
Hmm..it’s supposed to be a beautiful day here today, so let’s grab our coffee outside.  Enjoy the sun before it gets too hot today, and before it starts spending its days tucked behind the clouds.

I’m actually looking forward to a somewhat laid-back week and weekend coming up.  Today I feel kind of like I’ve been running a marathon, it seems like there’s just been so much happening.

This week I spent much of my time wrangling HTML, fonts, and wording.  At work I’m working on a manual about my job, and also helping revamp our webpage so… lots of word-crafting, and playing with HTML to get pages how I want them.  On top of that, I’ve been coming home and finding myself wrangling more layout and HTML over on Disparate Threads – I have a vision for how I want things to work, and realized that I have enough content now that I can start creating the bones for that vision… and hopefully once the structure is in place it will be easier to keep it running smoothly.  I changed menu options, rearranged some things, created a “Thank You” page, started thinking about grouping material, put together some LONG lists of material I need to create… and spent my lunch-breaks and evening commute writing what story content I could.  It is looking like Section One of the story might be done in December or January… and given the rate things are going when I hit new content that needs to be written (and the fact that everything after Section One will be new content) I’m thinking I may have to take a mid-winter semi-hiatus in order to give myself time to create more of a buffer.  But we’ll see what happens.

Saturday was devoted to attending a wedding of a dear friend.  It was a lovely outdoor ceremony at Mount Tabor Park.  The ceremony was simple and short — the bride and groom wrote their own vows, which were very them, and had us all laughing and smiling.  And it ended with a surprise serenade of the bride by the groom, which was one of the sweetest things ever.  I’ve known the groom for, well, shoot, over half our lives, and it was amazing to see him so happy today.  I am so thrilled for them, and know that they will live into those vows that they shared with us all.

For the wedding I wanted to wear something pretty, but comfortable because it was supposed to (and did) get unseasonably hot out, and we were going to be outside.  Also, I like to wear pretty things, but I am all about being comfortable.  This, and the thought that I really wasn’t that fond of any of the clothes I had in my closet (well, except the dress I’ve already worn to two semi-casual wedding… the last two weddings I’ve gone to), led me to decide I needed to make a skirt, the night before the wedding.  I had this fun black-and-white polka-dot fabric that I bought from a friend ages ago, and had wanted to make a skirt out of it but was kind of scared to start.

Glad I decided to take the plunge and go for it!  Skirt turned out lovely, and I was quite happy with my outfit 🙂  It served me well for what turned into a number of hours of sun, wine, and fun visiting with old friends.

Also, there may have been one moment of tree climbing.

I was actually pretty happy with a lot of the pictures I saw that people took of me that turned out okay — I am usually rather unhappy with pictures of myself, and somewhat camera-shy.   Maybe this wedding of decent-pictures is a precursor to me getting some actual good pictures over the coming months?  I can hope, right?

So… that’s been my week, that’s what’s up with me.  Oh!  And I got the Liebester Award this week, which was very awesome 🙂
